Small lamp - big darkness
Small lamp -big darkness
by Graham Wilmer. Due for publication July 2010 by The Lantern Project.
It took me 40 years to break the silence that had controlled me, but when I finally disclosed what had happened to me in my childhood, the world around me did not fall in. I found that other victims drew strength from my disclosure and began their own journey of recovery. From this grew the charity I set up - the Lantern Project - which now supports hundreds of victims of childhood abuse, in all its forms, which has made my journey worth travelling.
In this book, I tell the story of what happened after I wrote my book 'Conspiracy of Faith,' and what the Lantern Project has achieved with the help of some amazing people, people who, like me, were once unable to talk about what had been done to them, but together, we found the way.
This is a story of hope, a story that will help others and enable them to set the record straight. We were children then, but we are adults now. Those who abused us when we were children and unable to defend ourselves, now have to face us as adults. They need to know how it feels to be frightened beyond imagination, humiliated and exposed.
Justice has to be seen to be done. And so it shall be.
